I Want To Tell You Something…
…I’m your biggest fan.
There is nothing in this world, not puppies, not cuddling, not It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, that even compares to how fanatical I am about two people in love.
Not even Harry Potter (but it’s close).
Capturing the pure, authentic connection between soulmates means everything to me. And I’m so happy you’re here, because that means you’re considering letting me capture yours as well! I hope the answers here address every question you could ever have for me, but if you need to know something else I forgot to mention, then let’s chat!
What Is Different About Your Shooting Style?
I truly believe the best, most treasured images on a wedding day come from the unscripted moments of pure emotion and joy.
During formal shots, a horse quietly sneaks up behind a bride and starts chomping on her bouquet because it smelled like heaven.
A groom heroically carries his new bride across a freezing cold river because the narrow makeshift bridge that was there a moment before suddenly collapsed.
A groom’s dog gets free of its leash and comes running down the aisle in the middle of the ceremony and the venue erupts with laughter.
A bride is unable to hold back tears after she’s asked by the groom’s family to come join in the shot because she’s family now.
None of these moments were directed by me, but they’re all moments I’ve captured. I’m always happy to give my couples direction, but my goal for your day is to get those unforgettable, show-stopping scenes that made your big day yours.
My Wedding Isn’t Local, Are You Still Available?
Absolutely, YES!
In fact, over half my couples in 2017 had destination weddings!
I call the Pacific Northwest home, but my work has taken me everywhere from the Sedona Desert, to castle ruins in Southern Italy, to lush Rainforests in Costa Rica, to an extremely isolated cabin in the Grand Tetons in the dead of Winter.
My passport is current and I love, love, LOVE traveling.
You can view the specifics of my destination package on my pricing page.
(Psst! I also totally give discounts for locations on my bucket list…!)
Do You Shoot Elopements, Or Destination Elopements?
Yes, I absolutely love shooting elopements! Especially intimate, laid-back destination elopements!
I have a destination wedding package that covers everything, and I mean EVERYTHING so you don’t have to worry about the flight and lodging details for your photographer.
Did you know that planning a destination wedding is actually less expensive than a traditional one? It’s true!
Destination Wedding vs Traditional At Home Wedding: Which One is Cheaper?
Haven’t Considered Eloping? Here Are 4 Reasons Why You Might Want To…
We’re A Bit Awkward In Front Of The Camera, Will That Be Ok?
The vast majority of people feel a little uncomfortable having their photo taken.
Long story shot, don’t worry about it!
My job is to make you both feel like you’re able to be your amazing, unique, authentic selves during our time with each other.
Do you love getting coffee together? Did you meet in a library? Do you have dorky inside jokes that make you and only you laugh? These are things I want bring into our session! I just want you to be YOU, and I’m sure you feel the same way.
I’ll give you direction, of course, but it’ll mostly just be you two laughing, cuddling, and being your awesome selves with one another!
I promise it’ll be so much fun!
How Do You Usually Shoot A Wedding? Do You Have A Sample Timeline?
I have a sample timeline in my ShutterKey Wedding Planning Guide that all of my couples get!
The majority of your wedding day should be with the people you love, not tucked away in a corner with little old me. I break up my formal shooting times throughout the day so you’re never gone for huge chunks of time!
Beyond that, I’m usually just lurking in the shadows, capturing the candid, real moments between you and your loved ones on your big day.
Do You Take Family Formals?
Yes. I insist on it.
When I got married in 2015, it was a stressful time.
My dad was in the middle of a hard divorce from his wife, and my Granny went into the hospital 3 days before my wedding. She was able to watch me and my husband get married via Facetime, but passed away that next morning.
Family rarely gets together, there are only a few life events where your extended and close family will be together and your wedding is one of them. I desperately wished that I could have gotten one last picture with my Granny at my wedding, with my dad and my brother.
Family formals are some of the easiest and fastest pictures at your wedding, but by my account, also some of the most important. Take advantage of your family gathering together in one place, and treasure that time together!
What Is A First Look?
A first look is the first time you see your partner all dolled up before your wedding ceremony.
Some of my most intimate and special moments from a day come from first looks. In addition, nothing, and I mean nothing calms wedding nerves better than holding your partner in your arms before the ceremony.
It’s the perfect way to have a “calm before the storm” moment with just the two of you. The rest of the day you’ll be around friends and family, with little time to yourselves!
Do You Shoot Weddings For The Lgbtq+ Community?
Have and will continue to do so!
The only thing that matters to me is that you love each other.
How Quickly Will We Get Our Photos Back?
My turnaround time for delivering your gallery is 4-6 weeks!
How Do You Deliver Images?
After I’m finished with your images, I want you to have them as soon as possible.
I do this by creating an online gallery from which you and your loved ones can download your photos. I also send you a physical USB flash drive in a lovely little package with some other stuff, too!
You and your loved ones will also be able to order physical prints directly from the online gallery as well!
Can I Print My Own Photos?
Yes, absolutely!
Every package comes with a print release for you to print to your heart’s content.
What About Albums?
It’s my firm belief that you shouldn’t need internet or a computer to relive your wedding day.
For that reason, most of my packages include at least one physical album.
There truly is a deeper intimacy that comes from turning actual pages in an album versus clicking through images on your computer!
What Kind Of Gear Do You Shoot With?
Two Nikon D750’s, and a film camera or two laying about.
I’m in love with shooting prime lenses, for their sharpness and speed.
My fave lenses are my 24mm/1.4, my 84mm/1.8, and my 35mm/1.4.
I also love my HoldFast strap and my Think Tank bag to hold it all!
Do You Have Back-Up Equipment And Insurance?
Yes and Yes!
You should only hire a photographer who has both of these, always!
What Do We Need To Reserve Our Date?
I’m so glad you asked!
All my packages require a 50% retainer with the remaining balance due one month before the wedding.
I also offer payment plans up until that date as well!
Being able to pay off the balance in smaller chunks over a longer period of time enables many couples to afford the photographer whose work they truly adore, but may not be able to afford right that moment.
So, are you ready to capture your next adventure?
